No good to Tommy. I am a virtuous man these times & until I get back to my own dear lass, my clean, mutual sharer of fun, I shall remain so. It does not worry me at all, it makes me sick at heart to harbor an idea. And the punishment meted out to the other chaps is sufficient deterrent for me; leaving out defiling my dear comrade's memory.

You can be jolly sure that I won't get venereal disease. Fancy not being able to have a clean soul & body. I'm physically & morally fit. These white faced, fur wearing, beer & whisky drinking tarts might be filthy underneath. When I think of my own clean girl, you could not get me to touch one of these tarts with a 40 ft pole. Not because I'm a wowser or a prude. But that I'm loyal to my own gallant girl. She deserves it & I appreciate it.

One thing which I value now that I have seen so much is body cleanness. I mean freedom from disease. Being among soldiers, one would think that every girl in England is a fountain of filth.
